We are New York-based, WBE-certified studio dedicated to bringing architectural thinking to the field of engineering. Founded by engineer Erleen Hatfield and architect Martin Finio, we think and work like architects to better engineer distinctive buildings. Our process embraces optioning, iteration and parametric engineering to advance the design vision and open new architectural possibilities. Our growing team of 40 engineers is equipped to deliver large-scale and complex projects ranging from stadiums to mixed-use towers, academic buildings, museums, civic institutions, pavilions, and sculptural installations. Our partners have direct, hands-on involvement throughout the project timeline, bringing the full breadth of their experience to bear on every one of our projects. Erleen Hatfield launched Hatfield Group in 2018 after her time as a partner at Buro Happold. She brings her experience engineering some of the world’s most complex buildings to the studio’s boutique culture and design-driven process. She is certified as both a professional engineer and a registered architect and has co-taught Systems Integration at Yale School of Architecture with Martin Finio, FAIA for over 12 years. We are WBE-certified with New York City, New York State, and with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), which is honored by jurisdictions and institutions throughout the United States. We are also JUST, a designation for firms that socially just and equitable organizations.
